How do you tell friends and family about your Facebook account?
You can’t.
And if you do, you’ll end up in a Facebook privacy nightmare.
“It’s a nightmare,” said a Facebook spokesman, adding that Facebook’s privacy policies are “fully compliant with all applicable laws, including those related to privacy and data collection.”
Facebook has a pretty strong privacy policy that sets out what people can and can’t do with information about them, what information they can and cannot share, and what information is publicly viewable.
It’s also a pretty big deal to know how to set up a privacy account.
You can do it yourself with a simple online form, but that requires a Facebook account.
Facebook also requires users to set their profile photo, photo album, and profile description to “Private.”
“Your privacy will not be shared,” the site says, “unless you request it in a timely manner.”
That means if you set your profile photo to private, for instance, it’ll remain private until you ask it to be shared.
But that doesn’t mean Facebook won’t share your information with advertisers.
You’ll have to ask advertisers to use your profile to sell you something.
And even then, the information will remain private.
